Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is an increasingly popular way of exercising using specially designed poles to help propel you forward, making you walk faster. Using upper body as well as lower body muscles in this way makes you work harder and burn more energy (up to 46% more calories than a normal walk) but because of the poles it actually feels easier!Nordic Walking is suitable for everyone regardless of age and fitness level.The technique relieves stress from the neck, shoulders and knees and is great for the heart and lungs.The weekly walks are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Please note the monthly Saturday walks are longer more challenging walks and are open to walkers of all levels but who are confident with their Nordic Walking technique.

Weekly sessions are available every:-Monday     9.30am – 10.30am

All sessions need to be booked in advance in order to reserve poles.

Equipment

Poles – The specially designed nordic walking poles are provided for all sessions.

Footwear – there is no special footwear for Nordic Walking however bearing in mind the variable terrain you will be walking on i.e., trail, field, canal path etc., it is advisable to wear comfortable, flexible soled,  breathable and waterproof shoes or boots.

Clothing – depending on the weather it is advisable to wear breathable fabrics and wear layers in order to take off or put on.

Additional – a small rucksack which does not affect arm swing.  Water.  Waterproofs.  Sun cream.  Snacks (mainly for longer walks).
